It refers to a person in science and technology who works in R&D and technological innovation who has made significant contribution to the development of the nation’s science and technology. It is stipulated by Act for Honoring and Supporting Contributors to Science and Technology (Law 13579) and its Enforcement Regulation created on Dec. 22, 2015.

By honoring and supporting contributors to science and technology who have added much to Korea’s science and technology, they contribute to boosting the honor and pride of people in science and technology and creating a society that respects them.
